"Sunday AM at six oClock a parcle of Indian women Arrived here from the french House with the news that the frenchmen came on the night and Carryed all the men back on account of one on there men went off two days ago to hunt Partridges and is not yet arrived so that they think some of the Indians has killed him"...

..."one Indian that was to build Canoes was Confined is arrived. But the frenchman is not found as yet. The Indians tells me the few of themselves that was Confined is all out at Liberty."...

..."the men attending, the Indians all drunk, at 8PM they wanted to force the Gates and come in to take what they pleased, they had ten Guns loaded, Some with Ball, Some with Slugs and some Bristol Shot, they cut the Gates and likewise some of the Stockades, the first Gun presented I broke, and then took all the rest from them and their Knives and Bayonets and four I confined in the House which was the Ringleaders for some time And then as I had all their Arms I let them out, Those is the same villains that killed the Frenchmen and Robbed them two years ago, but if in Case one Englishman should be killed I will not spare one Indian that I know has any hand in it but as they was smartly received and having no Benefit only some hard words and one Gun broke and all their Knives and Bayonets taken from them I think it is over But I am all ready if it should happen and every Man here the same for to defend our Masters property and our own Lives"...

..."At noon arrived one man and two women they informed me that they had left two tents about 5 days Journey from here, The People belonging to them laying dead on the Inside which died of the Small pox and now two of themselves are taken bad with the same disorder, It is very shocking to see the poor creatures in such a deplorable condition it does not lay in our Power to help them"...

..."it gives me great pain to hear from your Quarter of the Deaths of so many brave Indians but indeed it is not only with you alone for here we have been buried upwards of Thirty for which number there is only two recover'd and they are but Children. The U'Basqui'au Indians is all dead and ten tents of Pegogemy and Cowinetow Indians that was pitching towards this place all dead"...
..."You will endeavour to acertain"..."also from what tribe this Cruel Disorder first sprung, as to myself am of the Opinion that it came from the Snake Indians and have been conveyed to them by those that trade in the Mifsisippi"...
